Welcome to Coopered Patterns.

Sculpture 05684 - CLICK ON IMAGEThe name of our company Coopered Patterns, defines our style of art better than all the other keywords. This art is truly a combination of these two old and lost woodworking trades performed by Cooper smiths, and Pattern Makers. We create a menagerie of fine art wood sculptures. Combining the practices allows us unlimited access to the shapes required to design the fine art commercial furniture we constantly strive to capture. Each piece is turned then blended into a geometic shape creating wonderful transitions.

Sculpture 05687 - CLICK ON IMAGELet me give you a little history on the foundation of our company.  Coopering today is still practiced in only two industries that I know, Column makers, and distillers. Distilleries still make barrels pretty much the old traditional way. Less than a century ago many products were coopered such as water tanks, windmills, wagon wheels casks, tubs, and others. Now traditional pattern making is a long lost practice. It has evolved into several radically different technologies. We have run across patterns in old foundries, and today they are highly collectible, and auction for a great deal of money. Patterns are beautiful pieces of our historical past. They were made to exact tolerances, extremely complicated and time consuming to create.
